Spending on Oct 2nd, Forecast for Oct 3rd

So, I planned to spend what I posted in yesterday's blog post...

Today, I ended up spending (approximately) the following:

  • $10 for bus fare that will last me 2 days
  • $7 for gas to/from subway
  • $56 for gas for my car
  • $4 for parking at the subway
  • $3 for coffee and an apple strudel for breakfast
  • $22  for lottery tickets that will last me 2 weeks
  • $2 for chocolate bars that I needed to buy in order to get cash back to buy my subway fare since they don't take debit and a bank machine was not on the way.
My day has cost me approximately $104 so far, and it's barely afternoon... Because of the lottery tickets.

I'm trying to save for struts for my car by winter (~ $200) and a pair of front winter tires (~ $250) all before the snow starts falling...

With the way things are going now, I think I can make it... I've got $75 already in a separate account waiting to have more added to it next pay so I can at least BUY the struts.

$75/$200 means I'm 38% of the way there for the struts!

SPENDING tomorrow:
On Oct 3rd, I plan to spend:

  • The $15 at the post office I didn't spend today (yet) since I probably won't have time
  • $4 for parking at the subway

Thankfully, doing things like filling my tank & buying 2 weeks of lottery reduces my spending for at least a week by approximately $70...

Since I chose to start this public tracking on a Tuesday however, this is not a FULLY accurate report on costs as of yet, but it'll get there. Hopefully by the end of the month I'll be able to report on total necessary spending vs unnecessary spending.

Just needed to post something midday to get that down in "writing".  This could be updated later today as well.

The Beginning of Negative Debt

I have officially embarked on my journey out of debt.

Previously things have been so-so but as someone who makes a decent living with another person in the household to somewhat help with things around the house, I don't see why this is so hard...

So  now, I'm tracking everything, as publicly as I can without making too many personal things obvious.

FACT: I'm in debt. A decent amount of debt too. Here's just the starting list (in order of importance):

  • Payday Company Loan #1 (C)
  • Payday Company Loan #2 (M)
  • Credit Card #1 (Visa)
  • Credit Card #2 (MC)
  • Car Loan
  • Line Of Credit
  • Student Loan
  • Mortgage
I will try to add to this list as I remember to do so.

Now, I'm aware that people don't consider the mortgage as a debt... But I'm including anything on which I owe anything at this point in time, and that pretty much sums it all up!

My total debt at the time of writing this is close to $400,000 (including the mortgage).

If you have an issue with the fact that I'm including the mortgage in my calculation, then don't continue to follow my experiences, as it will continue to bug you. ;)

SPENDING tomorrow:
On October 2nd, I plan to/will need to spend:
  • Approximately $10 in gas round trip to & from the subway
  • $8 to buy subway fare that will last me a day and a half
  • Approximately $60 to fill up my tank of gas
  • $4 for parking once I get to the subway
  • Approximately $15 to mail something at the post office
That's almost $100 in one day.  Of course, I don't mail something everyday, nor do I fill up my tank everyday, but still... The thought of it just drives me nuts!

Off to bed I go now that that is off of my chest. :)
